Need dog training tips! Help!!?
My dog is 4 years old. He was adopted at that age, and house broken as well. He is a pure breed husky. He " knows" the commands Sit, down, stay 3 5 secounds w full vision of me , and up from down to sitting, not to well though . He will do these tricks when we are about to take him for a walk, or I have a treat in my hand. For " down" , I still have to lead his nose with the treat to the ground. For " up" , he does it some times, either on accident or when he really wants the treat. How can I have him do these tricks on command, and not when he feels like it. I would like him to sit on command at the very least. We have trained him for about 1 month now. We did not use a choke collar. Thanks in advance Confused dog trainer

Emergency dog training tips?!!! please help!?
My family has fallen on some though times and with that being said a family member has been evicted and moving in with me along with her 3 young daughters and their chihuahua until they get their own place which shouldn't be long because she has a job. Just that her eviction is tomorrow and needs somewhere to stay in the mean time. Before I carry along, my question is about my 1 yr old pit bull. He is real sweet heart but he's just too excited for a lot of people's liking. He jumps a lot and at 80 pounds that's a very heavy jump. My aunt has a 3 year old daughter I am particularly stressing over. He pulls on the leash very forcefully so I cant take him on long walk and tire him out. Also, even though he is EXTREMELY friendly he is very dominant with other dogs. He doesn't know how to play well with other dogs but he doesn't come at them with bad aggression. My aunt is coming with her chihuahua as well like i mentioned . I have taken him to dog runs before and i trust him with other dogs, however, i don't trust other dogs with him. A lot of dogs have not taken his forwardness so nicely and the chihuahua is very sweet but snappy What are some ways I can help my dog?? I would like to know how to correctly train him. I don't want to take him to a shelter because when my aunts gone, so will he and if I had money to room him somewhere, I would. So please no fostering shelter opinions. I understand this is no overnight remedy. I'm willing to work on it with my family to improve his behavior. Thanks Let me clarify since Steve has just called me an irresponsible owner lol. I have two pit bulls and yes he is a pit bull mix They are not in no way shape or form aggressive I rescued the pit bull mix less than a month ago Hence me not trying to take him back to a shelter He is still adjusting to my home, guys The other pit bull is very polite and well behaved..I've had him for 3 years now and he's very good friends with the chihuahua that's coming. So that's example enough that I actually am a very capable and responsible pit bull owner.I just came on here in hopes that I could get some advice from someone that KNOWS what they're talking about so I can pass those training tips to my guests and we can all work on it together, instead of being a mess when they get here THANKS

Need dog training tips for the world's most stubborn dog?
I have a 7 1 2 month old puppy that is a Shar Pei Husky mix. He's adorable at 51 pounds, but refuses to listen. He understands sit and lay down, but only does those for treats. We were fortunate that potty training was instinctive, however he will NOT stop biting. He's not being aggressive, but wants to play. No matter how many times my husband and I tell him NO in a very stern voice, put him in time out, hold his mouth closed, grab and hold him by scruff of the neck, NOTHING works. He could care less what we do. He continues to bite and jump up almost non stop. He is extremely strong and hard to physically " manhandle" . I'm at my wits end. Any suggestions?

Any dog training tips?!?
Okay, so i have a female boxer who is about one year old . We are trying to house break her, and at first it was going good. We got a bird bell and she jumped up on the door and rang it every time she had to go outside... And since she was doing good we started to give her treats when she went to the bathroom outside, But now i think she is confused.. Because now she doesn't ring the bell at all and goes to the bathroom on the floor all the time Did the treats make her think every time she went she gets one? I dont know what i did wrong . Any advice?

Any dog training tips for this annoying dog behavior?
He's very, very clingy. He is always leaning on people, slobbering on them, chewing on people, and worst of all he constantly digs into people's feet as if he's digging a hole in the ground.I know some people think it's not that bad, but when people meet him or come over to my house it's really embarassing. and it's really annoying when you have to deal with it all day. Also, He keeps pulling the pillows off the couches to play with them.I know persistency is iimportant so I do that, but he just doesn't seem to listen to anybody about these particular problems. He's well behaved besides this. He comes when I call him and walks well on a leash etc. He's a good dog friendly dog.Don't tell me I let him think it's okay when he was a puppy so he's just confused now. I never ever let him do any of this stuff and he's been trying to do it since I had him at two months old.Any training tips would be appreciated.

I need dog training tips?
I'm 13 and i'm staying home this summer and I want to work on obedience training with my two dogs. Koda Collie mix, very smart and picks up on things quickly. She learned heel in one day. But sometimes easily distracted.Minnie Italian Greyhound Lab mix, very stubborn If anyone is familiar with the 'italian greyhound, then they know that they have a " whats in it for me attitude" She does have lab in her, but mostly just the looks, she definatly has Italian greyhound personality.I'm not two worried about training Koda, its Minnie. If anyones had an italian greyhound, your training tips will be most appreciated 1. Where should I train them? inside, outside 2. Should I separate them?3. How long should I work with them daily? Are there any REALLY good training books you know of?And anything else I should know would me much appreciated Thanks in Advance

first of all, I want to know if it's possible to train a six year old dog? He's pretty smart, but takes a while for things to sink in.I want to teach him some tricks, I tried when he was younger, but he was way too energetic then.Anyway, so if it IS possible, what are some good tricks to teach him and how do i teach them to him. Also any tips on how to make the process faster, and so I don't do anything wrong.Thankyou

Positive reinforcement as I start crate training an adult dog, training tips and ideas needed?
Back story We rescued an Alaskan Malamute from an animal hoarder she was in real bad shape when we got her.. Emaciated and easily 40lbs underweight, bacterial and fungal infection in both ears, Staph infection on her skin, etc. We fixed her up nicely About 3 months ago we had our first " real issue" with her she ate a baseball hat, a tube sock and a cat toy. Tube sock and baseball hat came up, but cat toy got stuck in her stomach and we spent the $2,300 on life saving surgery..We changed food, started free feeding and really cleaned up our home after this, determined that it wouldnt happen again.... . but last week she did it again She's extremely tall and very large 39inches at the top of the head and 140lbs and she can reach counters and tabletops with ease Went to the vet, did a barium X ray $300 and found it was a " sock or some type of material in her instestines" ..... We just can't afford a 2nd surgery for $2300 We've already spent over $4,000 on this dog in the last 8 months with all her medical problems She seems to have passed this sock on her own after a touch and go few nights of lethargy, she seems to be back to her old self, eating and drinking and not vomiting , thank God We just spent $200 on an XXL dog crate, since she's proven herself to us and the vet to have " canine pica" ... a small price to pay to ensure this doesnt happen again while we are at work We've never crate trained before and certainly havent with an adult dog so I implore you, Dog Section, please provide me with some tips and training ideas to make this new crate a positive experience and a safe, private place for our troublesome Mal Thanks a lot Added info They both run 5 7 miles a day with me. They also have weight pullling harnesses and will haul logs and rocks around our acreage. They get more exercise than most dogs would need cause they need more exercise than almost all breeds
