Your dog can definitely be trained at 2 years-old. He is still young and just needs to be put on a daily schedule. I adopted a dog that was about 2 years-old and was not trained at all. I put her on a daily schedule for going outside, feeding, etc., so that she would learn when it was time to go outside to use the bathroom, to eat and such. Dogs are smart and creatures of habit. They like to be on a schedule so that they know when to expect things. My dog learned very quickly and was house trained in about a week. I have always put all of my dogs on a schedule and they have all been trained successfully. You need to first walk your dog first trhing every morning before they eat. Then take your dog out about 1-2 hours after they eat. If you go anywhere, make sure you take your dog out before you leave the house, and when you get home take him out again. Then if you feed him in the late afternoon, take him out about 1-2 hours after he eats and drinks water. Then right before bed time, take your dog out so that he will be less likely to have an accident during the night. Your dog can be trained, whether you train him yourself or have a trainer do it. Your dog is still young and can learn. If your dog has been pampered recently, and he's not listening then he's just testing you to see what he can get away with, but training can stop this and he will learn to listen. Just remember that your dog is still young, and can still be trained. It wil just take patience and determination. Also, positive reinforcement will help with training your dog. If he does what he's supposed to, or something good, then praise him and even give himm a small treat or cracker. Your dog will learn what is good behavior by praising him. It won't take long to train your dog, and the sooner you do it the sooner he will be fully trained. Best of luck with your dog. Hope I helped. |

Yes, very feasible. Dog training is a great idea, your dog will love it, and so will you! |

Absolutely train your dog. They key to keeping him trained is reinforcing good behavior. Putting him back into a stimulating situation should be good for both of you. Best of luck! |

Yes it can be done. It is harder but can be done. I got a dog from the shelter when he was 3 years old had some bad habits that we are training out of him. First you have to be very consistent with him. Do not let him get away with things. Second find out how he responds some dogs will do anything for a treat others you have to use praise. Remember they respond more to the tone of your voice rather than to the words. |

Yes, of course you can train your dog! My dog was a year old when I got her and began training, and there was an 8 year old dog in the beginning obedience class that we went to. Training is an ongoing thing. You can start at any time, and you'll reinforce the training every day of the dog's life. |

Get the book dog training for dummies, it is totally possible to teach a dog of any age the proper way to behave you just have to know what you are doing :] Has it really only been a few days? Maybe he isn't feeling well, you might want to get him to the vet... |

Most definitely most trainers do not accept any dog under the age of 12 months (aka a year) 1. Search on internet for local training sessions 2. Try to register or get in contact 3. Relax any dog can and will be trained P.S. You can do this yourself by : 1. when your dog jumps up on you correct him (by pushing him off) it is a sign of dominance 2. Since your dog is disciplined in nature try to stimulate his brain by doing new tricks or an agility course 3. Go out more with your dog (walking does wonders) 4. Call his name does he come instantly or runs around you if he does run circles that is medium dominance if he does not come at all he either does not know the command or he refuses to listen 5. Do not call his name more than once (the dog heard you the first time) 6. You choose what he does if he goes on the sofa with out your permission get him off (again it is a sign of dominance) any method is OK just try not to be too soft or too angry dogs see that as a weakness |

2 years old is not old for a dog. In fact, he's just a young adult. Get back to training, find a good group class and enroll. |

You can train any dog, any age. You can train them yourself, or hire someone to help you and mentor you and teach you how to train a dog, if you have never trained a dog before. You might try search for questions on this site and look up areas you want to train, there are a lot of good answers already given. Training is all about practice and repeating, so hang in there. Dogs want to please you, so show them what behaviors you allow and which ones you don't allow, and remember to praise good behavior. |
