Pug house training problems?

Question: Pug house training problems?

(Posted by: on 2010-08-19 04:20:52)

Help! We have a pug which is nearly 2 years old now, and we are still having problems with his house training. He has been trained using a clicker numerous times with success but every couple of months he rebels and loses his house training and starts to poo around the flat. He has also now started pooing in his cage at night (which he is only in for the duration of the night because he cant be trusted around the flat). I've always read that dogs don't do their business in their immediate living space but this obviously isn't the case! We have come to the conclusion its a behavioural thing and that he's doing it because he wants to and not because he actually needs to go. We take him out as late as possible at night but before we have chance to get up early enough to take him out the next morning, he's already done it in his cage. Im really at the end of my tether with him and we have run out of options. Any help would be appreciated because this is going to be the third or fourth time this year he will be trained again and its getting tedious and annoying now. Thanks!

If the vet has checked him out, and found no health problem, then your problem is in how you are training him. This will work; dogbreedinfo.com/ housebreaking.htm But you must be consistent, and start over as though he knows nothing.
