Hi, I have a Lab Amstaff mix that I adore. She is a really sweet dog, but she just doesn't respond to normal training methods. What I'm referring to is positive reinforcement of any kind. This dog is very rare from what I've seen as a lifelong dog owner and lover, in the way that she doesn't care for your approval. If she does something good and you reward her with the normal " Good girl" with an exited voice and a few extra praises, she just backs away from you and looks very confused. Other times when praising her, she doesn't even respond. I try using treats. It works sometimes, but only when she's in the mood for a treat. If not, she doesn't care whats going on.So, training tips on a dog that responds to neither treats nor praise?
Does anyone know how to train a dog to walk without a leash?
I posted how to convince my mom to buy me a guinea pig and one answer was to look up videos or train it to walk without a leash and i want to do that.please help

How to train a dog to show its teeth?
I have been trying to train my dogs to growl on command for an example watch this video youtube.com watch?v YUbmt ze os . I have gotten them to the point where they will growl on command but not show their teeth or anything. Does anyone have any advice on how to teach them to show their teeth when growling? Or even show their teeth at all. One of my dogs " smiles" sometimes where she just shows her teeth when she is excited. Even turning that into a command would be good. I am just not sure how to get her to show her teeth. Any personal experience advice greatly appreciated
How to train a dog that has no motivation?
I have a seven year old maltese. He's very hard to train because he has no motivation. i've tried food,verbal praise, toys, playing, petting, everything I can think of He hates going on walks, doesn't like toys or playing, hardly eats any of his food no matter what type we get him, and shows no reaction when you give him verbal praise scratching petting him. He doesn't have any behavior issues except for barking and leg humping but we bought him a shock collar and he never does that when the collar is on. I'm really at a loss. He just seems so distant when you interact with him. I've had him since he was 12 weeks old which was when he was weaned from his mother, so this has been going on for 7 years Any help would be much appreciated

My dog recently had " the operation" and now she doesn't like sleeping downstairs alone. She didn't like it before but after some whining she would settle down. But now she keeps jumping over the gate at the bottom of our stairs and going upstairs. Hi, we just got a new 14 week old Chocolate Lab puppy, her name is Hazel And she will have to stay inside until April to be sure she gets all of her Puppy shots so I wanted to teach her How to Sit,Stay,Roll over, etc. I was wondering, She is doing really well with Sit so far I got her yesterday but how many times a day should I work with her? And should I keep doing it for maybe 1 week or something before I teach her something else? I adopted a dog from a shelter, I taught her how to sit using the hand motion and rewarding her with treats. She knows the hand motion, and now every time I try to teach her stay, lay down, or stop drop it, she seems to associate the treat with sit only, I can't figure out how to teach her the other obedience tricks being that every time I take out the treats she will only sit, any tips or help.I would like to try it on my own, with out having to pay expensive obedience training classes.

I own a cute 2 yr old german shepherd... I've managed to get her to jump over 2ft5, but she'll only do it when she can't swirve to the side. I also have to coax her with a treat or toy. How do i get her to jump in an open area? She also enjoys to jump, just gives me a look like " You want me doing this because...?" She's also VERY agile and small being the runt of the puppies. She is thin and is mostly made of muscle. Also, my girl is hiper and excited when awake. So, i decided that this might be a fun way to loose some of her energy. We just got a new 8 month old puppy, he's fine and friendly with dogs outside of the house but we have a 10 year old bichon terrier mix and our new puppy is a Pyrenees bernese mix so he's huge and very dangerous to our dog just in size alone. He's fine with him when we're outside but once inside he growls and bites at him. Our 10 year old growls, runs, and barks because he s scared so I'm sure that doesn't help either. What can we do to make them tolerable of each other?
