Potty training dog information
Help potty training dog!!?
Ok, So I managed to house train my girl friends little chihuahua mix by smacking her with newspaper and rubbing her nose in her pee and poo, after wards I read online that if you try to pet the dog and he she closes her eyes and turns away, its evidence of hitting and thus I didn't potty train her right. Now I have a cocker spaniel puppy 3 months of my own that I am trying to train and I don't want to hit him at all for fear he will turn out like the chihuahua. I take him out for a long walk then sit by the grass by by elevator complex for almost 20 minutes with him He doesn't do anything, he usually runs to the elevator and waits to go up to my apt. But then, within 5 minutes of getting inside he pees on my floor It's so frustrating and today I hit him in the side with an empty paper towel roll and now he is sad and hiding under my desk. I feel really bad but when I catch him normally and just say " NO" in a firm voice as suggested in a website, he doesn't seem to get the hint. I really need help I can't stand hitting my dog or cleaning up after he pees ADVICe Thanks
Difficulties in potty training dog?
I have a 3 year old miniature pincher, and recently I've been having alot of issues getting my dog to relieve himself where hes suppose to.He's beginning to pee inside the house, including his sleeping quarters? ? Is this a behavioral issue? Also how do i eliminate odor from the places he has soiled places you dont want him to pee? I've heard that using tobasco sauce or vinegar or something of a similar smell works well in preventing such. I've also heard that mixing apple cider vinegar in their drinking water balances their pH and will eliminate that all too familiar odor of dog pee. is that true? and by eliminating that odor, will that prevent them from returning to that spot to pee ? Any tips, suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks guys

My dog acting weird, about potty training? dog behaved when mom is around?
I have a 1 year old mini poodle. He's a very gentle and well behaved puppy. My wife and I have been trying to train him to do his business on old newspaper indoor to little success. The funny thing is when my mom came over to stay with us for 1 week where she's also a dog owner , she managed to teach our dog to pee poo on the paper. But once she left, our dog return to his old habit, by peeing and pooing everywhere when we were not around. He would rather hold for very long time as long as we're not in front of him. We've tried everything by spraying urine scent on the paper and to tell him it's not right to do business on the floor like what my mom did . Wife and I are working couple, we'll not be around much of the day.Is it because of habit, or he's being afraid of us? Does he want some attention where my mom able to provide? My next step would be getting the toilet pad or tying him on leash near the newspaper to force him to do pee poo on the newspaper.
Potty trained dogs and birthing?
I asked a question earlier, and i will say once again, for those who dont know. My breeding Mentor is being unreliable. And will not answer her phone. In this case, I came to the internet. My dog was bred on November 12, 2010. It is January 9, 2011. Therefor, anyday until the puppies. She is well potty trained, and seems to want to hold in all the puppies and sacs because she thinks its potty . It snowed last night here, and its about 3 5 inches. When we take her outside, she has her leash on, we have a towel, and all stuff needed, if she has a puppy outside. She was trying to empty her bowels, again. Her clear discharge came out, so we got her back inside. Any suggestions on what we can do for a dog that is well potty trained and is about to be in labor? She is showing all her signs. She is digging, wanting to be near me, refusing food and water.. etc. She is in her whelping box asleep now. All answers appreciated.
Why would a fully potty trained dog start going in the house?
I have a 7 month old male GSD and he is taken out 6 times per day and given plenty of time to potty and play. Nothing has changed around the house, we did not get another animal or anything. I have put him in his crate and will only take him out of it to go out side and he still wont go , he will pee but will not poop, he will hold it untill he is loose in the house. He went 2 days without pooping because I kept him in the crate except for walks and when my son let him out of the crate and did not take him out right away he went staight to the hall and unloaded. Please help I am at my wits end.I got him at 5 months and he was great then. I have called my vet and the concencis was that it is not a medical prob if he can hold it while he is in his crate and when he is outside. and yes his crate is huge And please understand that he was fully trained when I got him He has just started doing this over the last 2 weeks. He has always been able to roam the house freely and always used the bathroom out side until 2 weeks ago, that is when I started putting him in his crate. And I do always take him out on a leash and it is always to the same spot I always take him out right after he eats, wakes up, first thing in the morning, last thing at night and when he wakes me up on occasion in the middle of the night . and every few hours during the day. I am doing everything by the books here and nothing is working And like I said he was great and always went outside untill 2 weeks ago, I dont know what changed for him but everything is the same around here so........
My potty trained dog keeps peeing on my bed?
I have a 6 month old puppy almost 7 months and he's been potty trained for a few months now but for the past 3 days he has been peeing on our bed when he is sleeping he will pee and wake up and move to another side of the bed. He has only done this once before and it was when we first got him which was also before he was potty trained so i don't know why he is doing it now. Could he be sick?
Potty trained dog peeing everywhere?
She's been potty trained to go on a mat indoors. My grandparents were recently in town, and that was when she started peeing all over our house. They've left a few days ago and it hasn't gotten better. Why?she's gotten uti before, but there isn't any blood in the pee.
My potty trained dog is going in the house.?
K, I have asked before but I am continually puzzled My 3 1 2 year old Boston was AWESOME. Not ONE mess in three years, she always happily asked outside. She's been to the vet no problems at all. All of a sudden she starts peeing in the house kitchen, laundry room, living room, even repeatedly in her own bed. She's been treated very well, one of the family always. Why would she do this? Agin, she has no bladder problems, nothing. It seems she only does this when we won't let her have something she wants. If she begs my steak and I say " No" she pees in front of my chair. If she wants to sleep in my bed and I say " No" she pees on my bedroom floor. What can I do to reverse this? I have started potty training all over but it's been MONTHS with only worsening conditions. btdI think you may be right she has become very possessive of my husband and trys to ignore me when I give her orders. She always acts nice, plays fetch, etc but when she comes in the house she pees wherever I put her. She slept in the laundry room, then peed there, then slept in the living room and peed there...now she seems to pee wherever she sleeps and it's really irritating the heck oughtta me
Can you potty train dogs?
I live on this sort of farm and a lab. He's still a puppy about four months old. The problem is that there are only two houses in the farm and allow to be free. But he always comes to poo in the yard of the house I live in. My parents are getting mad and i need to know if there is a way to teach him to poo in the rest of the farm. He also jumps on people and bites my ankles when I walk him. And he won't walk on aleash he just keeps butting it and when I hold it he starts jumping on me and biting my pants I really hope there's someway for the pooping problem. Thanks.
My potty trained dog turned BAD DOG!?
My dog is a little over a year old, but he's been potty trained for quite sometime and always whimpers when he needs to go outside. Even if we are sound asleep, he will whine until we wake up to take him out. Recently in the middle of the night he has stopped whining to let us know he has to go potty and has started defecating on the carpet. We wake up every morning to his feces right next to the door. Is it possible for him to become UNTRAINED? He's fine during the day and let's us know when he has to go. He just started this about a week ago Please let me know what I can do. We punish him when we clean it up by making him smell it and swatting his rear not too hard, but hard enough to hurt his feelings . He's a very smart dog, that's why I don't understand Please help
Fully potty trained dog now poops in my house?
My female multipoo is three years old I have had her since she was 8 weeks. She is very smart but was the hardest dog to potty train I have had several dogs over the years and none have given me the same potty training issues she did . It took about a year to get her fully trained, and have only had a few random accidents in the past two years. Starting about two weeks ago, she started pooping in the house, not just every once in a while either, most days its twice a day, in different spots. I have tried looking at what might have changed in the past two weeks schedule, food, stress etc and the only thing I could think of was I put a temporary fence up where my other 2 dogs were ruining an area of the grass. I have done this several times before and it never bothered her because she doesn't use that part of the yard to go potty. Either way I took the fence down wondering if that could have had something to do with it and it has not seemed to help. When she does go out side I praise her and have gone back to giving her treats like when she was first potty trained. When I catch her pooping in the house I say a firm no, and put her out side. What is wrong with her, could she be sick? Upset? What should I do??
How do I stop my potty trained dog from peeing in the house?
I have an almost 7 year old Papillon Long Haired Chihuahua mix who is potty trained and will still ask to go outside. After my mom moved out he started peeing in the house. More specifically trying to pee on the furniture. I cleaned the accidents with a vinegar water mix and sprayed down the entire carpet where he kept going. He was discouraged by the smell and eventually accepted me as his new mommy and stopped all together. 2 months ago I moved into a new house with my sister and grandma. He was still doing fine up until last week. I started working about a month ago which means I'm out of the house a lot now, but it didn't start until I was about 2 or 3 weeks into the job and he's going on my sister's stuff, not mine. I'm not 100 % sure why he is doing this or how to stop it. We have all floors here so I'm not sure it will hold the scent of the vinegar as well as the carpet. I've also heard adding some kind of scented oil ex. Lavender to the water when you wash the floor and then spraying the same scent on his bed will discourage him, but again, I'm not sure if the floor will hold the scent. Any ideas as too why he's doing this and or how I can stop him? Thanks
