Puppy Training

Question: How much money (on average) do basic puppy training classes cost?

I'm talking about sit, stay, come, etc. and socialization. I don't want to get ripped off. I've found some cheap ones and then some that were much more expensive. What do most people pay for puppy training? I'm not concerned about the cost. I'm concerned about getting ripped off. I would be willing to pay a lot of money if the classes actually worked and taught us all something.

Honestly you should worry less about cost and more about QUALITY of training. Places like Petco/ Petsmart should be not even considered. AS for cost depends on how long the classes are and what they will cover. Figure at least 50-60 bucks at the low end. ETA: Then a better question would have been to ask how to find a good puppy class in your area.

Locally (it depends where you live also) I've seen them run as low as $80 to as high as $200 for an 8 week session. I reside in VA

Depends on your area. The average is $50-100 for the standard 6-8 week class. You also need to look at many other things besides price. These include: trainer experience; methods used; class size; follow-up; and what the classes actually teach you to train. Sadly many puppy classes are nothing but puppy play times. They're all recess and no school.
