How do i potty train a dog that doesn't like being inside?

Question: How do i potty train a dog that doesn't like being inside?

She's a nine month old chihuahua and I've tried potty training her. If I bring her in the house, which she hates, she immediately poops on the floor. I show her the mess and put her outside, but that's where she wanted to be in the first place so she doesn't care. I'm worried because the winter is coming and I know that she will have to come inside. I need to get her trained before then. Thanks for all the help, and the puppy pads are just a toy for her.

Really the only thing you can do when the dog is that old is get a very nice dog house and try to put it as close as you can to the back door of your house. Even if it isn't the best dog house you can still pin up thick towels inside of it and it would keep your dog nice and warm.

Just put her in the crate when she's in the house. Give her a special toy and blanket and lots of love when you put her in there. The main thing is to set the routine and not make a big deal out of it. She'll soon get used to it.

What i did to train my dog was border off the kitchen (or where ever my back door was) so i could always see what my dog was doing. When he looked liked he was gonna poo or pee i took him outside just before he went, then after he was done i gave him a treat to show him that if gos outside to do his business, he'd get a treat. Hope this works for you.

Why does her pooping mean she hates being inside? do you have another animal inside? it could be her nerves. if she really likes it outside you could pick up a great little doghouse at the local petstore and fill it with a warm blanket. she'll be fine. i had a small dog and she did the same thing. i never did potty train her either. hope it works out!

Older dogs are not easy to train compared to puppy dogs. Also giving her the proper training is vital as there are some very common, but critical mistakes that MOST dog owners make when attempting to train their dogs? These mistakes will not only lead to frustration with your dog training, they can be dangerous to your dogs mental development (which can lead to your dog experiencing stress related problems later on).
